How To Choose The Right Plasma TV

Shopping for a flat-screen television and unsure of whether you should go in for the 42 inch plasma HDTV television or the 62-inch plasma TV? There are a whole host of factors to keep in mind when choosing a plasma TV, and size is just one of the considerations:
  • Gain some tech know-how. Read up about the benefits of plasma technology: higher resolution, no scan lines, great color accuracy, flat screen, slim design, universal input capability, etc.
  • Size it right. Measure the space the TV will go into; allow at least 3"open space at the top and adequate space for ventilation behind the TV. Optimal viewing distance for a 37" plasma TV is 6 to 10ft; the distance should be 8 to 12 ft for a 42" plasma TV, 10 to 14 ft for a 50" TV and at least 14 ft for TVs that are 60" and more.
  • Resolution is key. An HDTV plasma television is worth the extra bucks you shell out for it: you will be rewarded with a much better display of high resolution computer signals. 
  • Crank it up. Check the quality on the inbuilt speakers. 15Wx15W is best. You can also choose to install surround sound in conjunction with your plasma TV.
