Microsoft has been busy since their release of Windows Vista and brings to you on October 22, 2009 their latest iteration of the Windows operating system, Windows 7.

Because the time for an upgrade may be something you've considered, here are a few things you should know.

Windows 7 will be available to you one of two ways; you can purchase a retail copy of Windows 7 and install it yourself as either a new installation or an upgrade to your existing Windows operating system, or purchase a new computer with a preinstalled copy of Windows 7 - likely the Home Premium edition.

Many of you may be skeptical of Microsoft's new operating system, and justifiably so.  However, current Windows 7 Release Candidate 1 (RC1) users have praised Microsoft for Windows 7's security and performance, hinting at a much more "polished" software package than Microsoft's previous OS launches.
