As hhgregg's reputation grows, so does the company. New stores are being built at a record rate. We expect to open between 20 and 22 new stores during our current fiscal year. These store openings will include the launch of three new multi-store markets: Tampa, Florida; Memphis, Tennessee; and Richmond, Virginia.
In addition, we expect to open between 40 and 45 new stores during fiscal 2011, with the majority of these new stores located in large and mid-sized metropolitan markets in the Mid-Atlantic region, including Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Baltimore, Maryland; and Washington, D.C. In connection with these expansion plans, the company also intends to open its fourth central distribution center for the Mid-Atlantic region in early fiscal 2011.

hhgregg is growing! While the company recently opened a new hhgregg Atlanta-area location in Snellville, GA, hhgregg executives have outlined plans to add 16-18 new hhgregg locations, many before the holiday season, over the next fiscal year.
Tampa is one area that is very excited about hhgregg's plans to expand there. Tampa will join the 14 other hhgregg Florida locations, including Lakeland, Tallahassee, West Melbourne, Jacksonville and Orlando. This is Jerry Throgmartin CEO of a retail rarity – an electronics and appliance chain thriving in a sour economy. According to the company’s early estimates, hhgregg sales managed to rise in the recession’s darkest days – the very same climate that killed a top competitor. Hhgregg seized on its rival’s demise by offering to honor Circuit City gift cards.
The gift card decision aside, Throgmartin says hhgregg’s success is not from bold, new choices, but rather a strong belief in old-school sales. Specifically, hhgregg sales people still approach customers immediately and are eager to offer insight. Throgmartin acknowledges some modern shoppers are unaccustomed to, even uncomfortable with the attention. But, he believes more customers than not appreciate it - especially when buying big-ticket items.

INDIANAPOLIS, Feb 17, 2009 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Indianapolis-based appliance and electronics retailer, hhgregg Inc. (NYSE:HGG) today announced that it will implement the Company's succession plan by naming longtime President and Chief Operating Officer Dennis L. May as the Company's new President and Chief Executive Officer, effective at the Company's Annual Meeting of Shareholders in August. Current Chief Executive Officer Jerry W. Throgmartin will become Executive Chairman of the Board and continue to play an important role in shaping the Company's vision and strategy. The Company also announced that Chief Financial Officer Donald J.B. Van der Wiel is leaving hhgregg to pursue other opportunities and that it will commence a search for a new Chief Financial Officer.

If you aren’t quite ready for the digital television deadline originally scheduled for Tuesday, February 17, 2009, you’re in luck – and you’re not alone. Congress voted to postpone the transition from analog to digital to allow Americans additional time to prepare. The new deadline is Friday, June 12, 2009.
Some television stations will make the switch on February 17, 2009, or at least prior to June 12 due to unique technical issues. Please contact your local television station’s website for details specific for your area.
The Obama administration has shown concern after learning the Commerce Department has reached their $1.34 billion funding limit for digital TV converter box coupons. With funding now exhausted, the NITA (National Telecommunications and Information Administration) has nearly 2.6 million coupon requests on a growing waiting list. In addition, The Nielsen Company estimates that as many as 6.5 million U.S. households might see their TVs go dark if the transition deadline is not postponed.
