Taking pictures in low light conditions doesn’t have to result in pictures that are too blurry to even make something out. The reason pictures taken at night don’t turn out as well is because the camera’s shutter has to stay open longer to let enough light in for proper exposure.
In order to take better pictures at night, you will need to understand a few things about your camera first. Learn how to adjust the ISO and set it higher. Most digital SLRs today have the ability to go up to at least 1600 ISO. You will want to experiment and find which setting works best for your camera and your conditions. You will also want to keep your shutter open a bit longer than usual. This will also introduce blur into your images. The best results will be achieved when you use a tripod, monopod, or any device that will keep your camera steady. I remote shutter release will even eliminate the possibility of camera movement from your hand pressing the shutter.
As with all of our photo tips, the best advice is to practice. You will never get better if you don’t practice. Head into hhgregg today to get your new digital camera to get started.

Many a first time digital SLR user will be apprehensive at first to use their camera to its fullest potential. The camera is much larger than what he/she is used to and there are so many settings to use. Most people will just never bother to learn how to use their camera and revert back to their point and shoot ways. Just because your new digital SLR has a fully automatic mode doesn’t mean you should use it.
The first thing a new dSLR user should know is the difference between Jpeg and RAW formats. A RAW image format is, in a sense, an undeveloped picture. Shooting in RAW allows the user to then process the image later in an application such as Photoshop. This is where the user can really get their photos to “pop”.
Jpeg images are files that have already been processed by the camera. This really limits what is able to be done with the picture afterwards.
Shooting in RAW format should be one of the first steps any new digital SLR user should master. This combined with a good photo processing program such as Photoshop will yield far better results than relying on the camera’s own processing.

Most people I know that buy a digital SLR use it exactly the same way they use their point and shooter. That is they select the point and shoot mode on their camera and that is forever where the mode dial stays. Now there isn’t anything wrong with shooting in full auto mode. It is sometimes the easiest way to get a shot off.
Getting to know how to use your digital SLR will allow you to take better pictures. Understanding the functions and when to change them is the first step in taking better pictures. ISO in film cameras refers to the film speed. Of course we all know that digital cameras don’t use film, but still have the option to change ISO. This basically will change how sensitive your sensor is to light. A higher ISO setting will make your camera more sensitive to light, while a lower ISO setting will be less sensitive. Ok, so what does that mean you ask? When shooting at night, you want your camera to be as sensitive as possible to what little light there is. Selecting a higher ISO will allow your camera’s shutter to close quicker, reducing blurry images. When shooting during the day, use a lower ISO since there is already plenty of light.
There is one downside to using a higher ISO with your digital camera: noise. The higher ISO setting you select, the more noise will be introduced to your picture. Too much noise and your images will look grainy. They only way to find out what your camera can do and which ISO settings work best is to go out and practice. Refer to your camera’s owner’s manual for instructions on how to do it. Don’t worry, it’s usually very easy to change.

You’ve seen that aperture setting on your camera but you aren’t quite sure how to use it. In fact, you’ve probably never even ventured outside of the fully auto mode on your trusty camera.
The aperture refers to depth of field, or rather, it measures how much of a photo is in focus. A long depth of field will leave virtually everything in the photo focused while a shorter depth of field will leave only a portion. The aperture will also be referred to as F-Stops. A setting of f22 will leave everything in focus while f1.8 will leave only a portion of the image focused.
For more in depth instructions read the tips at
DigitalPhotographyTips.net and also refer to your owners manual to find out how to change your aperture.
Once you have mastered changing the aperture, you will be able to add a new dimension to your photos. This is also useful to help draw the viewers attention to where you want it in your photo.
If you don’t have a camera that allows you to change aperture settings, head into
hhgregg and let the sales staff help you select one that does. You’ll be a pro in no time!
Panasonic’s TC-P54V10 could very well be the best TV out there.
HD Guru just reviewed the TV and proclaimed the model to be the “New King of HDTVs”. And why not? The TV has some pretty impressive features such as 96 Hz refresh rate for 24Hz sources and a slimmer profile.
Also featured are 4 HDMI inputs, enough for any serious HD connoisseur and just about every other connection you can think of. But enough about the features, how’s the picture? Well if you know your TVs you’ll know that the Pioneer Elite is the reference TV used by just about everyone. The Panasonic was able to produce a picture that created more “pop” than the Pioneer. Now that’s saying something!
Best of all, the “New King of HDTVs” can be bought right here at hhgregg.
Stop by today and let one of our friendly sales associates show you first hand why this TV is the new King.

You’ve just gotten your new
digital SLR from hhgregg and now you need to know how to use it. You have seen those nighttime pictures in magazines and wondered how they were able to take such great shots. Read on and we will tell you how to use your new digital SLR to take amazing nightscape shots.
• The first thing you will need is a tripod. Without a tripod it will be virtually impossible to hold the camera still enough to get a shot that turns out. The rule of thumb when searching for a tripod is to buy the best one that you can afford.
• Set your camera’s mode to shutter priority. If you don’t know how to do this, read your owner’s manual for more help. You will want to set the shutter to stay open for about 15 seconds. This will let enough light in to give decent results, but also gives you more time to bump the camera, which again is why you need a tripod.
• If you don’t have a remote shutter release, set your camera’s timer. This will give you time to press the shutter and get your hand off the camera to reduce the shake from your hand.
With these tips, you can take pictures of the moon, the stars, fireworks, or even cars driving along the highway. The most important thing to remember is to practice. Try different shutter speeds. Try changing ISO settings. You don’t have to take the perfect shot every time. Just keep at it and you’ll be a pro before you know it.

You just got your new digital SLR and would now like to take it to little Jimmy’s soccer game. Here are some tips to remember that will help improve the quality of your photos:
• First things first. Know the sport that you are going to be shooting. It helps to know how points are scored and where they are scored for example. Knowing this will help you know where the action will be taking place.
• Keep your camera in continuous mode. Shoot following the subject. This will keep the subject focused while the background will be slightly blurred, adding a sense of motion.
• Don’t just shoot the obvious action. Some of the best shots are of players’ faces as they react to goals or impressive defensive stands. Watch the sidelines after a goal is scored for some emotion.
• Take as many pictures as you can. Get a large memory card and take as many photos as
it will hold. Usually only one of every 20 or so pictures will turn out and be a keeper.
• Practice, practice, practice. Become familiar with your camera and its settings. Know its limits and abilities before you need to use them.
These are just some tips that will help you improve you photography skills. Keep at it and in no time you will become a pro.

Now that summer is in full swing you might find yourself out on vacation with your new
digital SLR camera near a waterfall. You have seen great pictures of waterfalls and would like to take your own but don’t know how.
The following tips will help you take the best pictures possible waterfalls:
• Use a tripod. Using a tripod will allow the camera to remain perfectly still while you take the picture. Since you will be leaving the shutter open for longer than normal, a tripod is essential. For best results, you should also use a remote shutter release. This will eliminate any and all movement from the camera resulting in the best possible pictures.
• Use a Polarizing Filter. A good polarizer will reduce or even eliminate unwanted reflections from rocks, trees, leaves etc. It will also enhance the color of the sky and other colors, making them seem more vibrant.
• Shoot early or shoot late. For best results you will need to wake up early or stay up late. Direct sunlight is too harsh for desirable pictures. Sunrise and sunset will give you optimal lighting conditions.
• Don’t be afraid to change your settings. You do have a digital camera. Take as many pictures as possible without worrying about wasting film. Try first using automatic settings and then try using different exposures and f-stops. Not every picture will turn out, but a few are bound to be keepers.
• The rule of thirds. Remember the most important rule of composition. Never place the object you’re shooting in the center of the photo. Try moving it to the left, or to the right. Move it up or move it down. Again, practice makes perfect. Try shooting from different angles and different settings.
