Cleveland Browns are the Charlie Brown of the NFL

Are the Cleveland Browns the Charlie Brown of the NFL?
The Cleveland Browns roster, coaching staff and front office has seen more turnover over two decades than a Jay Cutler-gripped football and although their 2015 team bares no resemblance to their 1999 team, the first in the franchise’s reincarnation, both teams (and 14 others in the 15 years in-between) share one thing in common: Season-opening losses.
The Browns’ futility has been well profiled over the last few years, with the team being a constant punchline for fans across the league, but are we fully aware of how bad they’ve been in Week 1 since taking the field against Pittsburgh on September 12, 1999?
They were demolished by Richard Huntley, Mike Tomczak and the rest of the Steelers on that day 16 years ago and while that game marks their only Week 1 shutout, they have only emerged victorious one time. Their 31-10 loss to New York on Sunday was the franchise’s 11th-straight Week 1 loss and their 16th loss and 17 seasons.
The Browns have been led by seven different head coaches and 13 different starting quarterbacks during the embarrassing run. Butch Davis is the only man to lead them to victory since re-joining the league. Cleveland defeated Baltimore 20-3 in 2004 behind Jeff Garcia and William Green.
Here’s a full list of their Week 1 results along with head coach, starting quarterback and leading rusher (via SB Nation):
