Five Tips for Organizing Your Laundry Room
23 Apr, 2014
Does your laundry room need a makeover? Sometimes, a few quick updates can make a huge difference – no pricey renovation needed. Check out our list below to learn five tips for organizing your laundry room.
1. Hang your cleaning supplies
Hang a peg board to make it easier to organize cleaning supplies and free up counter and shelf space. Use pegs to hang brooms, brushes and bottles with spray handles. As an alternative to the peg board, install small hooks on a wall to easily hang your brooms and supplies.
2. Find a place for lone socks
There’s always one sock without a mate, isn’t there? Make it easier to find a missing sock’s other half by trying this unique idea: Hang a small frame (above your dryer, if possible) with a few clothespins attached to the bottom, and pin any lone socks after each load of laundry. The socks will be visible, so you’ll be able to find a match once you sort through newly washed socks. If you want to get creative, type up or write out one of these cheeky phrases on a piece of paper: “Looking for my match,” “Single” or “Need my other half” and then add it to the frame.
3. Install a drying bar
Try this helpful tip for drying delicate items, swimsuits, jackets and more: Mount a towel bar underneath a shelf to use as a drying bar or to hang clothes that need to be ironed. You’ll have more room to store larger shirts that won’t fit on your drying rack without taking up too much space.
4. Stack your washer and dryer
If your washer and dryer are compatible for stacking, doing so can help you save quite a bit of space in your laundry room. Check out our laundry accessories to find the right stack kit for your stackable washer and dryer.
5. Make a laundry emergency kit
Find a small box, shower caddy or tool carrier and fill it with laundry emergency essentials. Include a bleach pen, stain stick or spray, and a stain removal guide for unexpected stain scenarios.
