Maytag Salutes: Anthony Johnson
15 May, 2014
Why We’re Saluting Anthony:
Anthony is the Deputy Sheriff with the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office. He has served on the Sheriff’s Dive and Underwater Recovery team since 2001, and in 2002, he was fortunate enough to join the SWAT team. Currently, he serves as a sniper on the SWAT team. Additionally, Anthony is part of the Explosive Ordinance Disposal team – he’s a certified bomb technician by the FBI.
Anthony explains, “I have always enjoyed performing my duties at the Sheriff’s department. Every day brings new challenges and offers me the opportunity to work within my community. One of the great aspects of my job is that I get to meet the people of Delaware County, and I always strive to leave a positive image of the Sheriff’s Office and all the other officers in other police departments that perform policing duties every day.”
When asked about why he gives back to his community, Anthony answers, “I enjoy helping the community. To me this job is not about recognition, but it is about working to help people that may be in need of your help. Getting someone back on their feet or helping to point a person in the right direction when they don’t know where to go.” He adds, “I feel that my contributions to the community are small in comparison to what is needed within the community, but when everyone helps, that larger need is filled. It is important that I do my small part along with all the others working out there to make our community a better place.”
