Julie Taylor Wilson
Why We’re Saluting Julie
Julie is the Development Director for LifeSpan Resources, the Area Agency on Aging for Clark, Floyd, Harrison and Scott counties in Indiana. She’s tasked with raising funds to support the vital services the agency provides through grant writing and hosting special events. But over the last 20 years her involvement has transitioned from “just a job,” to a true passion. The Senior Games participants have become her extended family. Every year she spends 7 days with 300 of her closest friends playing sports and having a great time.
Throughout the years, her love of these friends is reaffirmed when her friends are proud to introduce her as “Julie from Senior Games,” and their families have heard all about the wonderful time that their loved one had during the Games. “Oftentimes the participants and their families will reach out to me when seeking resources to assist the elderly of our community.”
Julie even has recruited her daughters and grandsons into helping her, and they never lose sight of the fact that the money they raise through Senior Games goes to help seniors who are in need of vital services such as Meals On Wheels and senior Transportation to help them remain independent and living in their own homes for as long as feasible. She says, “it is a pleasure and it feeds my soul to be able to provide even a small amount of good for those who have done so much to build this great nation of ours.”
