Maytag Salutes: Lisa Kalinowski
16 May, 2014
Why We’re Saluting Lisa:
It is easy to say Lisa Kalinowski has been dedicated to dance all her life. For the last 7 years, Lisa has put on a holiday show in her dance studio in Lititz, PA, whose proceeds benefit the local Make-A-Wish foundation. Each wish that Lisa has helped make come true is shared on the walls of her studio. Lisa has successfully taken her passion of dance and combined it with her passion of helping others to not only touch the lives of all of her students, but lives of strangers she has never met.
Lisa shares, “My nephew was a Make-A-Wish child, and we knew very well the amazing things this organization did for both our nephew and his entire family. So nine years ago, we switched from dance competitions to this show…The hearts of these dancers were so full, they said they’d rather do this than anything else.” The following year, Lisa decided to add a silent auction, raffle and a bake sale to raise more money. This past year, Lisa and her dancers earned $32,000, bringing the cumulative nine-year total to over $132,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Philadelphia/Susquehanna Valley.
When asked about giving back to her community, Lisa says, “When people come together to do good in this world, AMAZING things happen.”
