Maytag Salutes: Joan Gindlesperger

16 May, 2016

Name: Joan Gindlesperger

Hometown: Evans, GA

Why we are saluting Joan:

Being a teacher is often heroic enough, but Joan Gindlesperger does much more than that for her community.  A music and arts teacher at Hillcrest Baptist Church School, Joan enjoys doing things for others, and helping out where she can, and expects nothing in return.  She just enjoys doing it.

At least once a month, she makes 40 trays of food for nursing home shut-ins, older members of her church and fellow chemo patients at the cancer center she attends.  She also makes hats for cancer boutique at the center for patients that have lost their hair, and other crafts that she sells to help raise money for her school and cancer center.  Oh, and she spends her Sundays playing piano for her church.

So while Joan keeps busy, she still finds time to treat her husband and his co-workers to the occasional tray of baked goods she’s made for them.
