Electronics to Pack for Your Spring Break Trip

02 Mar, 2015

Bathing suit? Check. Sunscreen? Check. Assortment of essential electronics? We’re here to make sure you’re prepared for your spring break getaway. From tablets to iPods to portable speakers that are perfect for traveling, we’ve compiled a spring break packing list of the electronics you’ll need for your trip to paradise. Safe travels!

The Basics

Tablet/iPad or laptop – Consolidate the amount of electronics you bring by choosing either a tablet or laptop for your trip. If you will need to use your computer for more than playing games or checking a few emails, a laptop may be a better option. Otherwise, a tablet or iPad should do the trick for watching movies, browsing the web and checking social media on your trip. Browse our selection of computers and tablets to find the best option for your needs.

iPod or MP3 player – Traveling is much more fun when you can listen to music. To avoid draining your phone battery while on the road or in the air, add your favorite songs to your iPod or MP3 player before departing.

Headphones – From the pool to the plane, you’ll want to have headphones packed to drown out noise and relax. If you prefer total immersion in your music, try a pair of noise-canceling headphones like Beats by Dr. Dre Studio Wireless Headphones or Sony Noise Canceling Headphones. For a more lightweight, compact option that won’t give you tan lines, earbud or in-ear headphones will provide clear audio that can fit easily in your beach bag.

Portable speaker – Liven up your vacation with some tunes for everyone in the group to hear. Consider a wireless, portable speaker that you can fit in a carry-on bag. We recommend the HMDX Jam Classic Bluetooth Speaker for lower budgets and the JBL Pulse Portable Wireless Bluetooth Speaker for those who want to splurge.

Camera – While your phone may take pretty good photos, there’s still something special about using a real camera to document your spring break vacation. Learn about the differences between DSLR and point-and-shoot cameras before shopping for a new one.

The (Essential) Extras

Charging cord – You can’t do very much with your electronics if they aren’t charged! Don’t forget to pack the chargers for every electronic device you are bringing – and strongly consider carrying them on instead of checking them if you are flying (just in case your checked bag is delayed).

Screen protector – Traveling can take a toll on your devices; a screen protector for your phone or tablet will help protect it from surface scratches.

Case – Similar to the screen protector, a case will defend from accidental drops and the usual wear and tear of traveling. Browse cases for phones and tablets to protect your devices.

Car charger – For those who are driving to their spring break destinations, a car charger is a must for long stretches on the road. Try the iHome Micro USB Car Charger for a rapid charge or the iHome Travel Car Charger with 2 USB Ports to charge multiple devices at once!

Extra battery pack – Out for a walk on the beach and your phone dies? An extra battery pack is perfect for when you need to charge a device and there’s no outlet nearby.

Converter/adapter – If you’re heading out of the country, a converter and adapter may be necessary to plug in your devices to foreign outlets. Do a little research before you leave to make sure you’re prepared while you’re away.
